AfricTivistes and Isika Join Forces to Foster a New Dynamic of Citizen Participation in Madagascar
As part of their shared commitment to leveraging a new dynamic of citizen participation and creating a network of change-makers in Madagascar, AfricTivistes and Isika have formed a partnership aimed at establishing a Citizen Lab. This citizen laboratory will serve as an innovative space and a collaborative platform to encourage dialogue between citizens, providing digital tools and co-creation spaces to develop solutions to local democratic challenges.
AfricTivistes, an organisation recognised for its expertise in augmented citizenship and training on participatory democracy, and Isika, a Malagasy organisation promoting engagement and citizen participation through the use of new technologies, are joining forces to:
– Foster a new dynamic of citizen participation in Madagascar;
– Create a network of committed actors;
– Strengthen the capacities of young civil society actors on the continent regarding access to information and citizen participation…
This partnership marks an important step for Malagasy youth and civil society actors. Through the Citizen Lab, citizens will have the opportunity to equip themselves to actively contribute to decisions that affect their daily lives. The establishment of this citizen laboratory also demonstrates our shared commitment to consolidating our democracies and making them more participatory and inclusive.
As a reminder, AfricTivistes CitizenLab (AfricLab) is a citizen factory aimed at supporting, assisting, and equipping civil society actors through training, tool development, and support for innovation and co-creation. Since 2022, AfricTivistes has established two (2) CitizenLabs for an experimental phase in Mauritania and Benin. By 2025, four (4) more CitizenLabs will be launched in West and Central Africa.
