Presentation of the ACET project

The AfricTivistes Civic Engagement Tour (ACET) is a programme run by the Civic Engagement Tech Center at AfricTivistes. It is a series of capacity-building workshops on civic engagement and social transformation. During these workshops, we will train young people in citizenship, community development and digital storytelling, giving them the tools they need to make progress on the challenges they face in their communities.
PROJECT DURATION
The AfricTivistes Civic Engagement Tour runs for six months, from January to June 2020. A total of four workshops will be held in four regions of Senegal:
- SAINT-LOUIS: 7 to 10 January 2020
- FATICK, Mbellacadiao: 3 to 6 March 2020
- ZIGUINCHOR: 24 to 27 March 2020
- DAKAR: 9 to 12 June 2020
Each ACET (AfricTivistes Civic Engagement Tour) session lasts four days. AfricTivistes and its partners will run sessions for young people aged 18 to 35 who are involved in civic engagement and social transformation, as well as students and researchers from Senegalese universities. Each training session will have at least 20 participants and cover the following modules:
AIMS
- Strengthen the skills of engaged young Senegalese citizens and inspire renewed civic engagement among young people.
- Train young people to use digital technology to promote transparency, democracy and social development.
- Instil the values and principles of civic leadership to help shape the informed citizen of tomorrow.
OBJECTIVES
The aim of these workshops is to build the capacity of changemakers and encourage greater civic participation among young people. A second objective is to create a community space for dialogue and collaboration between the different stakeholders involved in the development and empowerment of young people.
