The Enabling and Protecting Civic Space (EPCS) project, INSPIRES, aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of civil society organisations to respond to the growing restrictions on democratic freedoms of association, assembly and expression around the world.
It fosters innovative learning about the dynamics of civic space and interventions in three areas:
Prediction: machine learning analysis to deepen understanding of the drivers of civic space and inform civil society’s programmatic priorities;
Prevention: programmes to build civil society resilience to shrinking civic space;
Response: ways for local partners to address changes in civic space through flexible support.
AfricTivistes is one of 18 organisations worldwide to benefit from the ‘Prevention’ focus of the Resilience Plus process.
The organisation has put in place an Emergency Preparedness Plan, fundraising and communication strategies while building staff capacity (soft skills, safety, wellbeing) and organisational resilience to ecosystem change.
