The Khadija ChatBot: a virtual assistant designed to promote the safe and responsible use of social media as well as combatting cyberbullying
AfricTivistes’ commitment to combating cyberbullying remains strong. Following a series of theoretical and practical training sessions, the launch of a dedicated web platform to address the issue, and the production of an educational toolkit, AfricTivistes is now rolling out an interactive digital assistant. This intelligent, innovative tool is designed to support, inform and guide users of all ages: children, teenagers, adults and parents.
In September 2023, AfricTivistes launched the #TaxawTemm! Aar Sunu Bopp campaign. This initiative aims to raise awareness and advocacy against online violence, particularly amongst girls and women in Senegal. As part of the AfricTivistes Women in Cybersecurity project, this month-long online campaign began with a workshop for media professionals and bloggers and aimed to combat cyberbullying and promote best practices for digital protection and safety.
By deploying a chatbot on WhatsApp and its online platform for sharing information and reporting cases of cyberbullying, AfricTivistes is reaffirming its commitment to raising awareness among internet users of the various forms of cyberbullying and their consequences, which disproportionately affect women and girls.
This is indeed particularly crucial in a context where cyberbullying can manifest in various ways, including violations of fundamental rights and freedoms, the right to image, breaches of privacy, attacks on a person’s dignity and honour and violations of the right to image, among other rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Senegal and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
You can access the Khadija assistant on WhatsApp via the dedicated number +221 70 764 31 76, or on the Taxaw Temm online platform. It responds to users’ queries and provides guidance on specific topics.
