The Pan-African Citizen Consultation Online: A Voice for African Citizens
This document is the result of contributions from citizens of African countries compiled as part of the Pan-African Citizen Consultation online, which aims to gather a diversity of views and opinions, particularly from young people, civil society, and activists.
This consultation demonstrates the importance of giving a voice to citizens. The ideas expressed will be shared with national, regional, and continental policymakers to inform debates and decision-making.
Its five main themes are Human Rights, freedom of expression and access to public information, the Principle of the separation of powers, Participatory democracy, Inclusive governance, Respect for the Constitution and presidential term limits, and the Participation of young people and women in political institutions.
As a reminder, this citizen initiative is part of the Charter Project Africa. This project, which encourages the use of civic technology to amplify citizens’ voices, is centred on the founding principles of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections, and Governance (ACDEG),
