Vacancy Announcement for the position of Translator

Eligibility

Any person with diplomas or certificates certifying the ability to translate (French-English/English-French) texts, documents, articles, etc.

The translator must have a solid experience allowing him/her to do the job.

The translator must have at least 5 years experience in the field.

Skills

Mastery of written translation techniques.

Perfect knowledge of French and English.

Solid general knowledge.

A good knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding migration.

Ability to add to our lexicon of terminology specific to the migration issue.

Experience in the translation of media productions is an advantage.

Required qualifications

Ensure the confidentiality of any communication and, in any case, exercise absolute discretion.

Be able to write accurately.

Demonstrate analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, a sense of initiative, rigour and method.

Be familiar with new translation tools.

Highly flexible and available.

Possibility of working under pressure.

The application package includes

– a letter of motivation addressed to the President of AfricTivistes;

– a CV;

– At least 3 examples of your work in English and French (original text and translated text)

Duration of the contract

After their recruitment, a one-year contract will be signed between AfricTivistes and the translator. The contract will come into force in January 2023.

Conditions applicable to the translator

The translator is bound to observe the obligations in the contract that binds him/her to AfricTivistes. In a contract in two copies and for the contracting parties, the obligation to ensure the translation of the contents to be published on the website is specified.

S/He will thus translate the content producers’ productions, external contributions and communication documents (visuals, press releases and other publications on the project).

He/she will also translate all the content of the Dialogue Migration website.

He/she must ensure the confidentiality of any communication and, in any case, show absolute discretion.

The ability to write press articles is an advantage.

The productions are the exclusive property of AfricTivistes. AfricTivistes is the sole owner of the broadcasting and publication rights of the article produced under this contract. It has the prerogative to publish it on all its own and partner platforms.

The translator authorises AfricTivistes to use his or her name, image (provided by him or her) and contacts in the framework of the promotion of the Dialogue Migration project.

The translator must commit to participating in the Inception workshop that will be organised for the content producers benefiting from this project between 15 and 20 December.

Obligations of AfricTivistes

AfricTivistes will provide the translator with all the materials and information he/she needs to carry out his/her work in a timely manner.

In return for his/her services, AfricTivistes will pay a monthly salary to the Translator for one (1) year.

AfricTivistes commits to maintain the confidentiality of the data of the applicants to the vacancy for the position of translator.

AfricTivistes guarantees the confidentiality of communications and contractual relations between the translator and the organisation.
