AfricTivistes is pleased to share with you its annual activity report. As the most influential network of young change-makers in Francophone Africa, acting as a force of dissent, a force of proposals, and a force of contribution, the organization is present in 40 countries on the continent and brings together over 200 change-makers.

This 2019-2020 report of testimony, transparency, and assessment is set within a specific year marked by the Covid-19 crisis. In response to this unprecedented situation, AfricTivistes quickly deployed a strategic Covid-19 response, allowing it to participate in the fight against the spread of the virus, mitigate its socio-economic effects, and monitor the management of the pandemic by states.

In addition to concerns related to Covid-19, the continent has experienced democratic storms with biased processes for acquiring political power and “constitutional” coups, whether overt or not. Moreover, there are threats to constitutional rights and freedoms. This is why, throughout the year, AfricTivistes acted on two fronts: the fight against Covid-19 and the battles for the restoration of democracy and rights and freedoms. For more than a year, the Covid-19 virus has been circulating in our countries. It has disrupted our ways of life. No sector or activity has been spared. Yet, this has not slowed AfricTivistes down. In addition to being resilient, the organization is sustainably committed to new horizons. “At AfricTivistes, resilience is a cross-cutting approach focused on our ability to adapt and adjust in any situation. It is at the heart of our framework and enables us to articulate all our approaches through digital means. Having become a true force of proposals, AfricTivistes has managed to develop a significant part of its projects in line with its new strategic direction,” declares Cheikh Fall, president of AfricTivistes.
