Objective(s)
To identify young women with high potential and support them in developing their careers and ensuring the long-term viability of their projects, whilst using digital technology to enhance their empowerment and social inclusion through a programme of support, acceleration, mentoring and coaching.

Overview
Ñuji4Dev — from the Wolof word Ji, meaning ‘to sow’, or ‘Let’s sow for development’ — is an entrepreneurial support programme aimed at young Senegalese girls. It forms part of AfricTivistes’ strategic plan to promote technological innovation and digital citizenship entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on young Senegalese women. It aims to help them take a simple idea and set up their own business by integrating the appropriate digital tools for its development.
CONTEXT
For young people in Africa, social media, mobile media and digital apps have become tools for informal entrepreneurship. Apps such as WhatsApp and platforms such as Facebook are being repurposed by users to sell products, fabrics and food, or to set up monthly savings groups. This project builds on these existing uses to professionalise them and turn them into genuine drivers of economic and social inclusion.
APPROACH
The programme combines four complementary elements: digital skills training to enhance employability and independence; personalised mentoring and coaching to guide participants on their entrepreneurial journeys; a project accelerator to transform innovative ideas into concrete, locally relevant technological solutions; and social inclusion through the use of digital tools as channels for outreach and information resources for young people.
