AfricTivistes launches the Dialogue Migration platform
On 29 September 2022, from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm GMT, AfricTivistes is launching a new news platform dedicated specifically to the issue of migration.
To this end, a webinar will be organised on the topic: “The migration issue: beyond sensationalism, politicisation and prejudice!”.
AfricTivistes’ Dialogue Migration project aims to provide the public with a web platform for co-producing and disseminating verified, contextualised and detailed information on migration, free from political divisions and sensationalism.
Once launched, the editorial team will produce reliable and balanced reporting on migration. The platform will also provide a space for information and dialogue on migration. It will serve as a reference point for journalists and stakeholders working on migration issues. It will also be a valuable resource for individuals planning to migrate legally. In addition to fact-checking, it will publish open data on the subject, including reports and existing documentation.
This platform, developed entirely by AfricTivistes, will help to reshape the narrative surrounding this issue in order to foster a discourse that is more respectful of migrants’ rights and to encourage respect for migrants’ human rights and dignity.
In the first phase of the Dialogue Migration Project, the editorial team will focus in particular on current migration issues through original reports, profiles, interviews and investigations on the subject. There will also be a fact-checking section and a forum for dialogue open to those considering regular or irregular migration, young people, activist citizens, members of civil society organisations, bloggers, web activists and media professionals.
